Aldi takes swipe at Mel B in hilarious John Lewis Twitter exchange

Aldi has engaged in a rather witty Twitter exchange with fellow retailers John Lewis - and dragged none other than Leeds Spice Girl Mel B into it!

It's all to do with this year's Christmas adverts and a surprise 'appearance' from Aldi's Kevin The Carrot in the John Lewis 2019 ad.

In it, Excitable Edgar is seen picking up a carrot to finish making a snowman.

Aldi screengrabbed the moment the carrot takes centre frame, and tweeted John Lewis in a similar way to Mel B did in her spat with Tesco just days ago.

"Can the CEO of @jlandpartners PLEASE CONTACT #KevinTheCarrot URGENTLY. Thank you. #ExcitableEdgar", Aldi gested from their official Twitter account.

Last week - and in a much more serious manner - Mel B had tweeted Tesco asking to speak to the CEO of the supermarket giant 'urgently', over an advertisment using her face without permission.

It was all good fun from the Supermarket though - here is the tweet from Aldi's account:

John Lewis didn't hesitate to respond: "Here at John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners we are really big fans of #KevinTheCarrot and were excited to feature his photo in our campaign. What do you think @waitrose?"

Waitrose then got involved by replying: "Don't panic @AldiUK. We're rooting for you Kev. Edgar's got the #LeaftyBlinders sorted so the show can go on. #ExcitableEdgar #KevinTheCarrot #jlandpartners," alongside a snap of some very festive looking, albeit rather over-cooked, sprouts.

The Twitter post has since received nearly 6000 likes, with lots of replies applauding Aldi for the move!

Mel B wasn't happy with Tesco's use of her picture in an advert for the new clubcard (ITV)
