Aldi shoppers thrilled as 'school dinners' favourite makes a comeback

An eagle-eyed Aldi shopper spotted a classic "school dinner" favourite in the frozen section, and was quick to share the news online.

The bargain retailer now sells frozen turkey dinosaurs, with packaging promoting the upcoming film Jurassic World Dominion. Packs contain nine turkey pieces shaped to look like recognisable dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops, and cost £1.59.

People who grew up in the 1990s will notice an immediate similarity to the childhood dinnertime staple dinosaur chicken nuggets. And many nostalgic foodies have been quick to praise the supermarket, Glasgow Live reports.

The customer who noticed the food product was quick to post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, writing: "Turkey Jurassic World dinosaurs in Aldi £1.59". Before long, the post had racked up more than 1,700 likes and an astonishing 5,700 comments from fellow consumers.

One said: "They are amazing cook well in the air fryer", while another said: "They are lovely the kids love them and I've tried them myself."

Another Facebook user said: "My son likes them and didn't even know they were different to the more expensive ones", while a fourth said: "They were a hit last night with my little one! Who is extremely fussy."

One man also noted that they "taste like school dinners".

The dinosaur-shaped snacks are the latest Aldi product to receive praise from shoppers in recent weeks. Earlier this week, a TikToker urged her followers to "run to Aldi" to get their hands on a £1 cleaning spray which is said to smell like Marc Jacobs' Decadence perfume.
