Aldi shoppers split over new product that some say is "better than Greggs"

Aldi has released a new vegan product and shoppers are divided in their opinions — with some saying that it is "way better than Greggs ones".

The budget giant shared details of its new No Sausage Bean and Vegan Melt Bakes onto its Facebook page on Thursday.

The product is intended as an alternative for those who cannot or choose not to eat meat.

Alongside the post, Aldi wrote: "So good you won’t believe it’s vegan. Grab yours in store now!"

Within hours, over 3,600 Facebook users had liked the post, and almost 1,500 had left comments sharing their thoughts.

One wrote: "THESE ARE AMAZING! WAY better than the Greggs ones! You guys are generous with the sausage…"

A second posted: "I'm not vegan but I thought I'd try these as they looked tasty and they didn't disappoint. They were really nice. Definitely buying these again."

"Aldi are doing so well with the vegan range. Hope it continues past January," a third shared.

A fourth agreed: "Aldi, you’re killing it with the vegan options! Loving it."

Another said: "My teenage son loved these and is usually a fan of Greggs meat version! Win for the animals and planet."

Other users weren't so keen on the vegan bakes, however.

"No thanks meat belongs in a sausage," one commented.

Another argued: "You keep bending for people following a life choice. How about regular gluten free products for people who need it through health?"

"Instead everyone ramming vegan down our throats how about more gluten free options," a third agreed.

A fourth said: "It absolutely amazes me how vegans want to eat things that taste of meat I mean really if you're vegan I would assume you wouldn't even want to go anywhere near something that you're so opposed to."
