Aldi shoppers praise 'gorgeous' £5 Specialbuy highlighter 'identical to Benefit'

Budget supermarket Aldi has shoppers obsessed with its latest SpecialBuy item, which customers say is "identical to Benefit".

Aldi’s SpecialBuys often prove popular with shoppers, many of whom anxiously await Thursdays and Sundays to see what they’ll be able to get their hands on. Recently, SpecialBuy products have included everything from hanging egg chairs to hot tubs - but this time, it's the retailer’s Lacura Highlighter that shoppers are loving.

The highlighter comes in a bright floral box and features a compact mirror and brush. It is priced at £4.99. The popular beauty Specialbuy racked up a number of five star reviews on the Aldi website, with many reviewers comparing the product to Benefit’s powder highlighter.

The two have similar designs, including similar packaging and features such as the compact mirror and brush. Benefit’s product is currently priced at £28.50 online, while Aldi’s comes in at £4.99. This means shoppers could save just over £23 by opting for the cheaper dupe.

Among the reviews on Aldi’s website , one shopper said: “Benefit dupe! Love this! Just like the benefit one. Great as a contour too”. A second wrote: “Glad I tried it. The dupe of dupes good quality highlighter for the price. Having used the original so to speak, this is just as good.”

A third added: “It's just like the expensive brand. I never usually use highlighter because I feel it makes my face look too shiny. I thought that I would try this out for a change as it looks similar to another more expensive brand that I usually buy.

“I've been really happy with the end results of this product as it's not too intense. The powder seems to be good quality and I feel like you can layer it up for your desired effect. The packaging is really good, no difference to the more expensive brand and the price is excellent. Highly recommend, it's a no brainer.

A fourth shopper said: “Excellent. Absolutely gorgeous highlighter, just the same as the much more expensive Hula [sic] brand, just excellent, bought with the bronzer, both great buys.”

Another added: “Identical to Benefit! This product is identical to Benefit. The only differences are the print on the box and the cost price. This was less than £5, Benefit is approximately £25. I won't buy the Benefit one again!”
