Aldi shoppers mortified as first Christmas products spotted in Irish stores

Aldi shoppers have been left mortified after spotting Christmas chocolate dominating supermarket floors in the past week.

Shoppers at the popular chain have been greeted by large boxes of Celebrations and Quality Street which are traditionally associated with the festive season.

And with it only being September people are surprised but also shocked at just how quickly 2020 is passing by.

Twitter user Tina said: "Aldi has Christmas sweets, like is there even going to be a Christmas?"

Phillip Nolan said: "Aldi have the tubs of Celebrations out already. There’s not a hope in hell any of them will see Christmas."

Another Twitter user, Daragh Cassidy, said: "I see what you're up to Aldi. #toosoon."

But Aldi have defended their early Christmas selection saying that the great day is not that far away.

Responding to the questions online a spokesperson said: "It’s only 113 days until Christmas. Just saying."

Aldi is likely the first of many shops that will soon be stocking their shelves with Christmas goods - although it could be argued the sweets are for Halloween.

What do you think? Is it too early for Christmas shopping or is the time now? Let us know in the comments.
