Aldi shoppers have been left fuming after a Special Buy delay led to some customers struggling to find a popular Halloween product.
Customers have taken to Twitter to complain that their local store hasn’t received any Halloween edition Squishmallows.
Squishmallows are a series of collectable cuddly toys, sold by retailers including Smyths, Claire’s Accessories and Argos.
The Halloween edition being sold at Aldi includes six characters - including a skeleton, cat, werewolf, vampire, ghost and grim reaper - with a retail price of £7.99.
Aldi originally said the Squishmallows were due online from October 10, followed by an in store date of October 14, but a delay had pushed the launch back in some stores.
The disappointment left some parents complaining to the discounter on social media.
One said: “Hi, I recently went to Bridgwater and Taunton stores to look for the Squishmallows, but there were no sign of them. Are they sold out in store or delayed?”
Another tweeted: “Will any of your Devon stores be getting the Halloween Squishmallows? I’ve been to about seven different stores and nothing.”
A third said: “Are you getting any more Halloween Squishmallows in the Liverpool area?”
One person also claimed she saw one Squishmallow selling for a hugely inflated price online.
She said: “No way is a Squishmallow selling for over £100 on eBay.”
Replying to several tweets, Aldi said they had originally been anticipating an in-store delay of Squishmallows until October 23.
However, it claims the original delay wasn’t as bad as they first anticipated and tweeted customers today saying all shipments of the cuddly toys have now been made.
In a reply to one person today, Aldi said: “We can advise that a delay was anticipated with the Halloween Squishmallows arriving in stores however we can confirm these are now available.
“Please check your local store for availability while stocks last.”
Sadly, the Squishmallows Halloween set was sold out online when The Mirror checked today.
