Aldi shoppers fuming after being told to pay more for Kevin the Carrot toys online

Aldi shoppers have been left fuming after being unable to buy individual Kevin the Carrot characters online.

The soft toys were released online and in stores this morning - but customers are only able to buy bundles on the Aldi website.

It means some people would end up paying more if they only planned on buying one Kevin toy and can’t get to their nearest Aldi store.

Individual toys sold in Aldi shops are available for £3.99 each.

But in comparison, the cheapest pack of toys you can buy online is the “Kevin and Family” or “Special Guests” bundles which are priced at £11.95 each.

The cuddly Kevin the Carrot toys are from the latest Aldi Christmas advert (ALDI)

The “Kevin and Family” pack contains Kevin, Katie and their children Chantenay, Jasper and Baby, while the “Special Guests” bundle has Banana Snowman, Tiny Tom and Peas & Goodwill.

Three toys in the store would cost you £11.97 so you’re not paying any more online for the actual toys - but you will face a delivery charge of £2.95 if you spend under £30.

Aldi is also selling a “Dickensian Friends Bundle” for £15.95 with Ebanana Scrooge, Marcus Radishford, The Spirit of Christmas and Cuthbert the Caterpillar.

Fans of Kevin have been taking to Twitter to express their frustration at not being able to buy individual toys online.

One person said: “Waited in a queue for over an hour this morning online to get an Ebanana - then to get on to the website and it says check your local store??!!!!!

“But the more expensive multi packs are available - not fair Aldi!!!”

Another said: “Got the bundle with Cuthbert in online after queueing for 45mins but I’m a little disappointed that he wasn’t available on his own as he was all I really wanted.

“I would have gone to my local store if I’d have realised but I had to buy the bundle as I was scared he’d sell out.”

A third shopper called for Aldi to lower its two toys per person policy that it has in stores. They said: “Change the policy to ONE per customer - was about 12th in the queue - entered - still orderly until a swathe of women just barged through.”

But another customer said they had a pleasant experience when buying their Kevin toys this morning.

They said: “Bit of a queue outside my local Aldi this morning but it moved pretty quickly and lots of stock! That’s two Kevins for me and my lovely mother in law.”

Aldi shoppers had been queuing up since 4am this morning, with thousands more waiting online, to get their hands on the latest Kevin collection.

When The Mirror check the Aldi website shortly before 8am, we were number 75,281 in the queue with 57,868 ahead of us.

The website told us there was "more than an hour" wait to get online although this quickly jumped down to 15 minutes.

We also spotted some Kevin the Carrot bundles had already been listed for £145 on the auction site - a huge 1,000% mark up on their original £11.99 price tag.

The plush characters up for grabs are all featured in Aldi's latest Christmas advert, including Ebanana Scrooge and Marcus Radishford, as well as new editions of Kevin the Carrot and his family.
