Aldi shoppers excited as six-litre prosecco is returning but is it really as good as they think

Bargain retailer Aldi caused mass excitement among shoppers yesterday as it announced its six litre bottle of prosecco is returning this Christmas.

Aldi's supersized Methuselah Bottle of Prosecco sold out in just 24 hours last year as fans rushed to get their hands on a bottle which costs £99.

Each holds the equivalent of eight 75cl bottles of prosecco, available online from Friday, November 1.

However, this could be the first of Aldi's Special Buys to not actually be that special.

While the bottle sized is a novelty, it actually works out as £12 per each of the eight bottles it holds. Buying eight separate bottles of Aldi Castellore Prosecco Spumante DOC would cost £47.92.

This means by buying the six litre bottle customers are spending an extra £51.08.

For those who still wish to buy the huge bottle, Aldi is recommending keeping it cool by leaving it in a bucket with ice or leaving it outside.

Pouring the prosecco is also recommended as a two-man job. Only one bottle will be sold per customer.
