Aldi shoppers 'divided' over 'American style' peanut butter and strawberry jelly spread

By Sophie Buchan

There's nothing better than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - or commonly referred to as PB and J.

It's very much a staple snack across the pond, however it's also gained a lot of popularity over here - so much so we even have our own jars dedicated to the mixed condiment.

However we often buy the peanut butter and jam separately - but we now on longer need to.

This is because Aldi are now selling Grandessa Peanut Butter & Jelly costing just £1.79.

Aldi themselves have said that shoppers can "choose from a selection of strawberry or raspberry jam, topped with peanut butter in a jar. With American's devouring around 3,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in their lifetime it’s safe to say they are nuts about this sensational combination."

Taking to the Aldi UK shoppers Facebook group, one member shared with 210k others what they had found - and people went wild.

In response to the post one simply commented a sick emoji.

Another added: "They had these last year they were really good."

A third said: "Americans love this type of thing don't they? Sounds a strange combo will have to give a go? Don't think I may like but who knows."

"Bryn's friend in Gavin and Stacey would be beside himself" a fourth joked.

From the majority of the comments most would love to try this - but of course it all comes down to whether you like peanut butter and jam of course.

Would you buy these jars? Let us know what you thought of them!
