Aldi shoppers divided after woman blasts people who pack their trolley at the till

An Aldi's customer's rant about "annoying" shoppers packing at the till has caused a storm on social media.

The debate flared up after a woman took to Facebook to blast another customer who packed their trollies whilst stood at the till, reports North Wales Live.

Posting on the Aldi UK Shoppers group, which got hundreds of comments before an admin turned the comment section off, one woman said the whole point of Aldi was its speedy checkout operations.

She wrote: "Why do people that use Aldi not understand you don't pack a trolley full of food into your bags at the till!!! That's the whole point! Annoying...very annoying."

There was a flurry of responses, with many agreeing with her but others saying that she was being "judgemental".

One person said: "Aldi is all about speed …. that's why there is a packing bench … yes very annoying."

"I agree. I used to do this pre-pandemic but my store stopped us doing it last year. I now pack straight into my car," said another.

A third suggested: "If you line your trolley with 3-4 big bags it's just as quick to put them down in the bag as it is putting them down in the actual trolley.

"I put all my heavy stuff on the belt first spread this across the bottom of the bags then the lighter things go on the top. I keep up fine and hold no one up. Also means less time in the shop."

Not everyone agreed however, one person replied: "I do as I don’t have time to mess as I shop before work. I keep up with the person on the till so there’s no issue."

A second commented: "I love playing beat the cashier, I'm quite a pro and normally win."

One shopper said: "I will pack mine at the till in my own time, I'm not rushing for any miserable gits and if I can see they are annoyed I will enjoy taking longer."

Another commented: "I don't really care myself what people do, I'll happily wait my turn. But I personally go to the packing area after throwing it all in my trolley because my anxiety gets so bad with how quick they scan things, and also worry about people behind me (like you.. who are quite obviously very judgemental)."
