Aldi shopper with puppy in trolley outraged after 'being asked to leave'

Shoppers are divided as to whether a man should have been kicked out of Aldi for having a puppy in her trolley.

Jody Pearson said he was asked to leave while he was walking around the supermarket.

But he said he had put the dog in his trolley because he was worried it would be stolen if he left it outside.

In response to the request, Mr Pearson made a complaint on the Aldi UK Facebook page on Sunday (June 9), Examiner Live reports.

But while some shoppers supported him, other said the demand by Aldi staff would have been reasonable.

The post read: "I can’t believe I’ve just been made to leave your store in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield, for having my puppy in a trolley.

"It would be understandable if it was safe to leave a dog outside the store."

In an edited addition to the post Jody explained he normally finds Aldi staff "very friendly and quite accommodating". He said the reason he did not want to leave the puppy outside was because "there is an ongoing issue with theft in this area."

The weird and wonderful world of Aldi shopping

He added: "I’m quite sure they’d get more for my puppy than they would the alcohol and tins of coffee they’re stealing from inside the shops."

Stuart Henry responded: "Yo that’s a solid health and safety violation. If the dog is a certified service animal then cool but a pup is not that.

"To simplify it your dog's poo contaminated sphincter is where a child is supposed to sit. I work in produce and I despise your ilk because it does pose a direct health hazard to all shoppers."

'What a joke'

Michelle Pollock said: "Really? What a joke. Leave the dog at home. Would you take it to the carnival and complain if they didn’t let you go on a ride with the dog and asked you to leave?"

Meanwhile, others were more sympathetic. Harley Paige Muhall said: "But parents think it's acceptable to stand their children in a trolley with their mucky shoes on."

Samantha Woodbridge added: "I actually live near Milnsbridge and can confirm that the crime rate is horrendous here so I don’t blame the lady for taking her puppy shopping with her inside the store."

Aldi UK has been contacted for comment.
