An Aldi shopper has caused a huge debate after asking a question 'for a friend' over an essential store cupboard item.
The shopper asked the question in Aldi Shoppers UK Facebook group sparking a fierce row with Aldi fans not being able to decide whether ketchup should be kept in the fridge or left out in the cupboard.
Within hours, more than 400 people had descended furiously on the post to offer some very strong opinions on the subject.
The first commenter thought they had put the matter to rest, reports MyLondon.
They wrote: "If you think about where it was in the supermarket that's where you store it. Was it in a fridge or not, problem solved x."
But within minutes, others had descended on this comment saying: "That's before it's opened though" and "in the supermarket, it was not open yet!"
Another added: "Can your friend not read the back of the bottle that clearly says once open store in the fridge, I don't even know why this is a debate, the instructions are clear enough."

One person wrote: "Unopened cupboard, opened fridge," and several others agreed "all condiments go in the fridge."
But this led to a whole new ketchup argument, which essentially came down to a matter of taste.

A second person said: "I hate it in the fridge, I keep it in the cupboard, it doesn't last long enough to go off in my house.
A third commented: "Well I've always kept mine in the cupboard and not had food poisoning yet so guess I'll keep it that way as I have done for 20yrs."

And another added: "30 years of storing mine in a cupboard, with no problems."
According to an official Heinz statement on the matter, 'because of its natural acidity, Heinz Ketchup is shelf-stable'.
However, they do recommend customers refrigerate after opening 'to maintain product quality'.
