Aldi shopper shares genius way to make VE Day bunting for free in seconds

With VE Day landing this Friday, many people in the UK are preparing to celebrate at home during lockdown.

This year the occasion is even more special as it's the 75th anniversary of the end of fighting in Europe in the Second World War.

Of course, no occasion is above the social distancing guidelines which are currently in place, so Brits are going to have to celebrate at home, instead of having the street parties they've been planning.

This has, however, caused a surge in people buying bunting and flags to mark the occasion, and now may people can't find any in the shops when they're searching during an essential trip.

We made our own VE Day flag using an Aldi bag (MEN)

Those unable to leave the house have also struggled to find any bunting or flags online.

However, one Aldi shopper has now come up with a genius way to make your own bunting at home, and it doesn't really cost anything.

The idea, which has since gone viral, was shared by a mum on a popular Facebook group.

She said: "Kids wanted flags for VE Day Friday!!

"NO flags... NO problem! Aldi bag and a pair of scissors.... Sorted."

We had a spare Aldi bag floating about, so we gave it a go ourselves, and we can confirm that it's as quick and easy as it seems.

We cut out the bag, found a stick and taped it on to the back.

If you want bunting, just take a few bags, cut them out and attach them to some string - it really is that simple!

And if you are planning on celebrating VE Day this year, PLEASE respect the social distancing guidelines, and don't invite anybody round or go to see friends and family.

It really, really isn't worth it, and you can have a good time by staying in!
