A savvy Aldi shopper has shared a "brilliant" tip to make dog treats for just 59p for those who are "struggling" amid the cost of living crisis.
With bills and prices continuing to soar, people across Scotland and the UK are looking for ways to keep everyday costs at a minimum. Those who have dogs will know that caring for their four-legged friends is not cheap.
That is why one Aldi customer devised a way to make their own dog treats using a product sold by the bargain giant. The retailer stocks Earls Meaty Chicken Strips for the price of 59p.

By cutting the strips up into "small squares", the customer was able to fashion them into multiple dog treats. They were quick to share the tip with others online.
Writing on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, they said: "Save on buying training treats for your dog, I've just bought these meaty strips from Aldi for 59p and cut them up into small squares. Filled my pot and still have a few left. Might help someone who is struggling."
Before long, the post had received more than 1,500 likes and over 300 comments. Aldi fans and dog owners alike were quick to give their verdict on the hack.
One shared: "We tried them and our very fussy dog loves them! Pop them into an ice cube tray!, they make a lovely treat and keep your dog hydrated."
A second echoed: "That's a great tip. If your dog won't or wouldn't eat them, very good, but great for treats on a budget for those that do or will."
"Do it all the time and put some in my pocket for when I take them out," revealed a third.
"I do this, works out cheaper," commented a fourth.
A fifth posted: "Really good tip. We’ve always done this and they love them."
"Brilliant idea," a sixth simply said.
Other users suggested different ideas to make homemade dog treats, with one commenting: "Good idea, I buy cheap liver, cook it and use it as treats. Cheap and natural!"
"We sometimes use carrot slices and cucumber slices also a snapped fine green bean goes down well," shared a second.
"Or better still use some kibble from your dogs daily allowance," a third suggested.
