Aldi shopper says Jesus appeared on potato - and even her usually sceptical husband agrees

A mum is convinced the image of Jesus appeared to her on a supermarket potato - so she took a photo before promptly eating it.

Nikki Halkerston says she was unpacking her weekly shop onto the kitchen counter when her eye was caught by the face of Christ in a pack of £1.15 Aldi spuds.

The 44-year-old from Dundee immediately called her husband over to confirm her find and - even though he is "usually really sceptical about these sorts of things" - he couldn't deny the resemblance.

"As soon as I put the packet on the kitchen top I saw it," said receptionist Nikki.

"I was staring at it and it was just quite obvious it was Jesus' face. It was just looking at me.

"I've seen stories before about people finding Jesus in their food but I can never usually see it. This was just so obviously him.

"I called my husband into the kitchen and he's usually really sceptical about these sort of things. He never gets over-excited about anything but even he agreed it looked like Jesus.

"I've eaten it now."

Plenty of other people have previously claimed the face of Jesus has also appeared to them in a variety of forms, from the folds of a curtain to the cuttings of a shrub.

One visitor to a garden centre saw her picture go viral after she claimed to have spotted the image of Christ on a koi carp fish named Carl.

The picture – dubbed the 'Father, Son and holy fillet' – caused such a storm that the manager of Notcutts garden centre in Ashton-under-Lyne has started offering up the 'poisson of the Christ' for selfies.

You can take a look a Carl and judge for yourself here.
