Aldi shopper's 'hack' for slowing down speedy cashiers branded as 'selfish'

There's a running joke between Aldi shoppers about how fast the staff pack with many memes being shared across social media.

The jokes and memes usually refer to the speed at which their staff scan, leaving customers scrambling to pack their bags before the next item.

However a shopper who uploaded a 'hack' on Facebook in order to slow down staff has caused some controversy online.

The trick sees the woman spacing each item roughly 30cm apart as it gives her more time to pack her shopping.

After sharing the picture to an Australian Facebook community group, the photo caused a lot of debate with people calling her "selfish", "annoying" and "childish".

One said: "If you are selfish enough to do that I hope they really throw them at you."

Whilst another added: "Meanwhile, there are 20 customers behind you."

However one Facebook user pointed out that you shouldn't be packing your bags there and then but instead pack them in the designated areas.

They explained: "Stop trying to pack your bags at the checkout. Put your groceries back into your trolley after they've been scanned and pack them at the packing area like you're supposed to,' one person wrote.

Despite the negativity, others called it a "genius" idea telling others to "lighten up" with one joking: "might try it next time I don't feel like taking on the ALDI ninja fast cashiers lol".

So what do you think? It is a good idea or just selfish?
