Aldi shopper furious after staff ask her to leave for putting pet dog in trolley

An Aldi shopper claimed he was asked to leave the supermarket after he put his pet dog in one of the trollies.

Jody Pearson put his puppy beside his shopping while he made his away around the aisles.

He decided it was unsafe to leave his pooch outside the shop because of an "ongoing issue with theft in the area", Huddersfield Examiner says.

But Jody since ranted about the supermarket's decision on Facebook

"I can’t believe I’ve just been made to leave your store in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield, for having my puppy in a trolley," he wrote.

"It would be understandable if it was safe to leave a dog outside the store."

In an edited addition to the post Jody explained he normally finds Aldi staff "very friendly and quite accommodating". He said the reason he did not want to leave the puppy outside was because "there is an ongoing issue with theft in this area."

The man went shopping at an Aldi branch (GOOGLE)

He added: "I’m quite sure they’d get more for my puppy than they would the alcohol and tins of coffee they’re stealing from inside the shops."

But the post has received a mix of support and criticism from Aldi shoppers.

One person typed: "Yo that’s a solid health and safety violation. If the dog is a certified service animal then cool but a pup is not that.

"To simplify it your dog's poo contaminated sphincter is where a child is supposed to sit. I work in produce and I despise your ilk because it does pose a direct health hazard to all shoppers."

Another said: "Really? What a joke. Leave the dog at home. Would you take it to the carnival and complain if they didn’t let you go on a ride with the dog and asked you to leave?"

But others were more sympathetic.

One person said: "But parents think it's acceptable to stand their children in a trolley with their mucky shoes on."

And another posted: "I actually live near Milnsbridge and can confirm that the crime rate is horrendous here so I don’t blame the man for taking his puppy shopping with him inside the store."

Aldi UK has been contacted for comment.
