Snack fan Charly Arnold was surprised to find two bags of Hula Hoops in her cheaper multipack from Aldi.
She was happy to realise she had inadvertently saved 34p by finding the more expensive branded snack in her bag.
With a branded multipack of six from Tesco costing £1.70, a single bag comes out at 28p. The Aldi alternative comes in at 11p a bag, meaning Charly saved 17p per packet.
She had bought a bag of Snackrite ready salted hoops from an Aldi in Chichester, West Sussex, reports TheMirror.
As she looked down at the familiar red and yellow packet and realised that it didn't say 'Snackrite' at the top.
It said 'Hula Hoop'.
She posted a picture of the bag online and wrote: "Just took two bags of 'proper' Hula Hoops out of the Aldi Snackrite multipack.
"Just goes to show how people are only paying for a brand name with most things!"
The post was met with likes from hundreds of people amazed by the hoop based mix up.
Others attempted to explain the likely cause of the confusion.
Gillian Edwards wrote: "Nearly all their produce is done by the same companies big brands.
"I worked in a factory for 15 years and the things I produced were of the same line but different code."
Alison Pelling confirmed that the two different hooped crisp brands tasted the same to her.
"Just literally eaten a pack of Aldi ones and me and hubby both said no difference from proper ones, now we know why," she explained.
In 2017 it was revealed that KP Snacks produces both branded Hula Hoops and Aldi's own version.
