Local Waitrose stores will be extending their opening hours until 11pm in the run-up to the 25th.

Aldi has said it's opening for extended hours in the lead up to Christmas too and that most of its stores will be open until 11pm from December 21 to 23 - not that we suggest you leave your Christmas food shop to the last minute!

Marks and Spencer has also announced that it will be keeping around 400 of its Food Halls open until midnight, giving customers time to shop when its convenient and quieter.

And it's not just food retailers who are hoping to stay open for longer during the festive period - budget fashion giant Primark have announced that they would like to stay open for 24 hours a day in the run up to Christmas.

According to reports, the boss of Primark has insisted that the company's stores stay open for as long as possible so that shoppers can social distance throughout the Christmas period.
