Aldi's wine delivery service is a hit with people in lockdown

Budget supermarket Aldi has long been known for its affordable, award-winning wine and spirit selection.

And while the retailer doesn't currently offer online grocery shopping like most of its larger rivals, it does have a drinks delivery service that's proving increasingly popular with people staying at home.

The supermarket first launched its online wine shop in 2016 but says it has seen 'unprecedented demand' since the UK lockdown began.

Contact-free deliveries have been introduced in line with social distancing measures, to keep customers and staff safe - and it's free when you spend more than £20.

To qualify for delivery you'll need to order a case of at least six bottles of wine or spirits.

An upper limit of 12 bottles per order (and no more than six bottles of each type of wine) has also been introduced to make sure stock stays available for everyone.

The delivery window has also been extended to between three to 10 working days for the time being.

"Due to unprecedented demand, your wine order may take longer than usual to arrive," the website warns.

"Our colleagues and suppliers are working round the clock to keep our warehouse stocked and to replenish our online range."
