Aldi's kind gesture to Liverpool hospitals during coronavirus pandemic

Budget supermarket Aldi has donated food packages to NHS staff in Liverpool as a way of thanking them for working hard on the frontline during the coronavirus crisis.

The retailer has confirmed it sent the parcels to the Royal Liverpool Hospital, Aintree University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital.

They contained teas, coffees and biscuits with Aldi wanting to show NHS staff workers its support.

Ian Stenton, head of sustainability (jointly leading on corporate donations) at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We're really thankful to receive this donation from Aldi, to help support our staff and to show that people are thinking about them and grateful for their incredible work.

"We've been amazed at the generous donations we've received from businesses and from local people who've contributed to our funding request.

"I've had feedback from staff to say how touched they are at the support they've been receiving."

All NHS and emergency service workers can take priority at Aldi queues at its stores This is in addition to early access on a Sunday ,  where they can enter stores 30 minutes prior to opening.
