Aldi's Kevin the Carrot makes TV return in supermarket's 2020 Christmas ad teaser

Aldi's famous orange character Kevin the Carrot is back for the supermarket's 2020 Christmas advert.

The animated vegetable takes centre stage in the new teaser that has been released ahead of the shop's full festive commercial.

The chain excited fans by sharing a short clip to their social media page on Sunday - which sees Kevin return for the fifth year in a row.

Joining Kevin in the footage - for which Aldi took inspiration from blockbuster Top Gun - is a turkey named Lieutenant Turkey .

The teaser begins with pair flying through the sky in a fighter jet plane.

Kevin shouts: “Brace yourself, Turkey!” as they whizz between a narrow gap between two mountains.

Father Christmas then flies by with his reindeer, which leads to Turkey snapping a photograph from inside the plane.

Lieutenant Turkey then says he is “roasting” and tries to open a window in the plane.

However, he accidentally presses the eject button, which leads to Kevin being propelled into the air from the cockpit, as he shouts: "No, Turkey!"

Others echoed: "Just seen @AldiUK Christmas ad. I hope Kevin is OK! #WhereIsKevin #KevinTheCarrot " and "Oh my god Kevin is back!!! 2020 is saved."

More joined in by penning: "Luv the #Advert Poor #KevinTheCarrot " and "At last, @AldiUK bringing some normality back to 2020, you can always rely on #Kevinthecarrot."
