Fans of Cuthbert the Caterpillar can now watch their favourite culinary character take part in a charity sky dive.
Fresh from his ongoing legal battle with M&S's Colin, Cuthbert has taken to the skies for a charity plunge which Aldi hopes will raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The dive is part of Aldi's #caterpillarsforcancer campaign which was born from the M&S feud over infringement.
Marks and Spencer is currently taking Aldi to court amid claims that Cuthbert infringes the copyright of its own, very famous, Colin the Caterpillar brand.
Since the wrangle began fans of Cuthbert the Caterpillar were bemused to find they were unable to get their hands on the tasty treat.
However as of Monday he returns to Aldi supermarket shelves and to celebrate the budget brand has released a video of the chocolate cake doing a 40,000ft skydive.
Cuthbert even has a JustGiving page where fans can sponsor his daredevil efforts. On the page 'Cuthbert' says: "Forty thousand feet: no, it’s not what you get if you add up the number of chocolate caterpillar cakes in the UK – it’s how high up off the ground I just went for my charity skydive.
"And my knees go weak at the thought.
"But a caterpillar’s gotta do what a caterpillar’s gotta do.
"And now I’m asking you, my caterpillar fans, to do your bit and help support a very worthy cause: Teenage Cancer Trust.
"Will you help me raise some money for a great cause and sponsor the world’s first caterpillar cake skydive?
"Donate on this JustGiving page – and I’ll see you back in Aldi stores from Monday, May 17."
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi, said: “Cuthbert has been the centre of global media attention and we felt a dramatic return was called for to celebrate him coming back to our stores.
"And it doesn’t get more dramatic than jumping from the sky at 50mph. Our loyal shoppers have really backed Cuthbert during these last few weeks and we can’t wait to bring a limited edition version of him back to reunite him with his fans and thank everyone for their support, whilst also raising money for charity, including our partner Teenage Cancer Trust.”
And Cuthbert fans were impressed with the charity dive.
One said: "What a hero! Thank you Cuthbert for showing us how caring caterpillars really are. Donated. Keep up the awesome work."
Another said: 'This really cheered me up this morning, although I'd quite like to have seen him in crumbs at the end."
