Aldi's Christmas bonus to staff as a 'thank you' for braving the pandemic

Aldi is set to give its workers a Christmas bonus, as a thank you for working hard during the coronavirus pandemic.

The touching gesture will give operations and logistics staff a financial boost this festive season - and serves as a "thank you" from bosses.

Bosses want to treat staff for working through the lockdown and coronavirus crisis earlier this year - reports Birmingham Live.

Despite the lockdowns, essential retailers like supermarkets have stayed open.

And Aldi workers have been forced to work up and down the country, serving us groceries and medicines throughout the health crisis.

Giles Hurley, Aldi chief executive, said: "This year has been a difficult one for so many and our colleagues have worked tirelessly to ensure the nation continues have access to high quality affordable food.

"This bonus is a gesture of our appreciation for our amazing Aldi colleagues who have shown incredible resilience and dedication throughout 2020."
