Aldi has confirmed more than 20 of its UK stores will undergo improvements by the end of the year as part of its newest investment plan to enhance shopping experiences for customers.
Between now and the end of the year, two Aldi supermarket stores - Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria and Ebbw Vale in Wales - will benefit from major extensions.
A further 21 stores will undergo other upgrades, including new fixtures, enhanced layouts and improved sustainability features.
These planned upgrades are part of Aldi’s ongoing enhancement rollout which comes after an original upgrade programme which has already delivered modernised layouts, maximised space for fresh and chilled products, as well as brighter, wider aisles to over 500 UK stores.
This comes after Aldi invested £650 million into renovating 35 existing sites and open 40 new ones before the end of 2025.
The low-cost retailer has invested £55 million in its capital city locations alone, including two new locations in Commercial Street in Shoreditch and Fulham Broadway.
In London, Aldi plans to create 3,500 new jobs by opening 100 more stores. Over time, the business hopes to grow from its present 1,050 locations to 1,500.
Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “Our investment into our store estate is part of our ongoing commitment to provide the very best shopping experience for our customers.
“By extending and refreshing our existing sites, we’re providing more sustainable and convenient stores, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of the communities they serve for years to come.”
