Aldi releases spoof of John Lewis Christmas advert

Aldi have released a spoof Christmas advert, parodying this year's John Lewis tearjerker.

The core premise is much the same; an elderly man defies the laws of science by living on the moon.

However what the John Lewis advert may have lacked in product placement, Aldi decides to make up for with a price comparison of telescopes.

The popularity of such a present aside, that £39.96 saving can't be argued with.

In a happier twist to the supermarket's tale, the once lonely man is able to count on more than the sight of a young girl through his telescope for company.

Which present one would prefer, a small (but undoubtedly powerful) telescope or an elderly woman with accompanying plush armchair is open to debate.

The question of who made the better advert may be slightly less so.
