Aldi opening times for New Year’s Day

    Budget supermarket chain Aldi has announced its New Year opening times for stores across the UK - and it's good news for Aldi employees, as all Aldi stores will be fully closed today for New Year's Day.

    Sadly, that means that anyone thinking of heading to the German supermarket today for their first budget shop of the year will be left disappointed, as all Aldi stores are closed today for New Year's Day.

    So you will need to wait until 2 January to do your Aldi - or Lidl - shop or head elsewhere.

    Even though it's a national Bank Holiday, supermarkets aren't legally obliged to give workers the day off, but Aldi and Lidl have kindly decided to treat their employees to a full day off today to celebrate with their friends and families.

    Aldi New Year's Day opening times:

    • 1 January 2020 (New Year's Day) - Aldi stores will be closed.

    • 2 January - Normal opening hours resume.
