Aldi opening times for elderly start today as a retailer announces more changes to its stores

Budget retailer Aldi has announced more changes across its stores amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The changes mean customers will have to make slight changes to how they usually do their weekly shop.

In the announcement shared over the weekend, Aldi has confirmed it will now offer priority access to elderly or vulnerable customers who have no option but to visit its stores.

Starting today, exclusive access will be give for elderly and vulnerable customers 30 minutes before normal opening times, Monday to Saturday.

In most stores this will mean priority access will run from 7.30am-8am. You can find your local Aldi store here.

Early opening on Sundays will continue to be reserved for NHS and emergency workers.

This isn't the only change Aldi is making to help customer stay safe either. Customers will be offered wipes disinfect trolleys and baskets when they enter Aldi stores and will be able to use their contactless card for transactions up to £45, as contactless limits increase today.

Aldi has also lifted the purchase restrictions on all products from today , with the exception of the following three items:

  • Hand Wash (maximum 4 products)
  • Shower Gel (maximum 4 products)
  • UHT Milk (maximum 2 products)
