Aldi opening times for Bank Holiday Friday

This year the May Bank Holiday has been moved to Friday to mark VE Day and that means changes to opening times at supermarkets including Aldi.

With the coronavirus lockdown still in place, people won’t be celebrating VE day in quite the same way we imagined when the bank holiday was moved to a Friday to mark the 75th anniversary.

But many people are still planning to have a little party in their own home and may need to head out to stock up on essentials.

Aldi is also still running its popular garden event, with items including the Kamado Ceremic Egg BBQ, which has just become available again after quickly selling out.

Aldi’s shopping hours on Bank Holiday Friday will be slightly different to usual, with stores opening from 8am to 8pm.

For the rest of the weekend, normal opening times apply, with Aldi stores open from 8am to 10pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Social distancing measures remain in place in all stores and customers are advised to only buy what they need, as stock is being replenished daily.

Opening times for key workers and the elderly

Aldi still has special measures in place that allow NHS, police, fire service workers and all key workers entitled to a Blue Light card to take priority ahead of queues, during all opening hours.

This is in addition to early access on Sundays, when they can enter stores half an hour before opening.

The elderly (over 70) and vulnerable can get half an hour early access Monday to Saturday for browsing only.

Quietest times

According to Aldi, its stores are busiest in the mornings, especially late mornings, with stores becoming quieter into the afternoon. The quietest time to visit is from 7pm ot 10pm.
