Aldi named cheapest supermarket by Which?

Aldi has again been named the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket by consumer group Which?

Which? conducted the Cheapest Supermarket price comparison and looked at the cost of a basket of 20 items, including groceries and household essentials, with Aldi coming in cheapest at just £21.61.

The same shopping cost 13% more at Sainsbury’s and 12% more at Tesco.

The independent consumer group's research also found Aldi to be £6.98 cheaper than the most expensive supermarket for an equivalent basket of items.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “We are always striving to deliver the highest quality products at the best possible prices for our shoppers, and we are thrilled that our commitment to achieving this goal has been demonstrated yet again, in being named the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket.”

The news follows Aldi taking home three of the most prestigious awards for the third year running at the Good Housekeeping Food Awards 2021, as it was crowned the UK’s Favourite Supermarket and Favourite Wine Retailer.

The supermarket was also awarded Favourite Premium Supermarket Range, blowing more expensive supermarket rivals out of the water with its Specially Selected range.
