Aldi named as 'Supermarket of the Year' for tantalising summer wine range

Budget retailer Aldi has been crowned ‘Wine Supermarket of the Year’ at the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Beating upmarket rival Waitrose, as well as Booths and Lidl, Aldi made it three wins in three months for its wine and spirits range.

The supermarket scooped ‘Drinks Retailer of the Year’ at the Retail Industry Awards at the end of January and Multiple Wine Retailer of the Year at the Drinks Retailing Awards 2021.

Judges of the IWSC competition praised Aldi, stating: “the innovation achieved while keeping budget in mind on such a wide scale is second to none”.

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “We know our customers want great quality products at the best value and we are incredibly proud of our wine range, which has gone from strength to strength over the past few years.”

Aldi has recently launched its new Spring Summer 2021 wine range to tantalise taste buds and bring back the holiday feeling.

The new collection is packed with wines to tempt shoppers to try something new and sample varieties they can’t get elsewhere.

This includes a Canadian Riesling and Uruguayan Tannat amongst the range from around the globe.

Available in store and online now, prices start from as little as £4.29
