Aldi lifts restrictions on certain items and introduces disinfectant stations

Shopping restrictions have been lifted at Aldi as the coronavirus outbreak continues. The supermarket had placed strict rules on the purchasing of certain items, however some of these have now been removed as panic buying has decreased and a greater selection of stock is available.

Only three items will now be restricted, hand wash, UHT milk and shower gel. Customers will be able to purchase a maximum of four hand washes or shower gels and two units of UHT milk.

Aldi's limits will no longer include beers, wines and spirits or nappies, as restrictions on these products have now been lifted.

There are now also disinfectant stations in place for customers entering and leaving the store to wipe down their trolly or basket.

However the number of customers allowed in the store at one time will remain controlled alongside social distancing measures.

Priority shopping for the NHS on a Sunday morning will remain the same, alongside a new 30 minute slot before normal opening times for the elderly and vulnerable on a Monday and Saturday morning.

Aldi's contactless card limits will also increase to £45 per transaction to allow more customers to pay without cash or contact with payment terminals.

Other supermarkets in Edinburgh also continue to have limitations in place, with different opening times, priority slots and product restrictions.
