Aldi, Lidl And Waitrose issue urgent product recalls over safety fears

Aldi, Waitrose and Lidl have issued a series of product recalls due to safety fears.

Food Standards Scotland has issued alerts for a range of supermarket items and urged customers to return them for a full refund.

The affected products include chicken snacks, pork and chorizo burgers, sweetener tablets and garlic and mango pickle in oil.

Aldi Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin’ Chicken

Aldi recalls Roosters Southern Fried Poppin’ Chicken and Roosters Breaded Poppin' Chicken because of the possible presence of salmonella.

Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

Both Roosters chicken products being recalled have a pack size of 210g, batch codes of L15320, L14720, L14820, L14920, L15020, L15120, L16020 and best before of 25 May 2022.

Waitrose & Partners Easy to Cook Pork and Chorizo Burgers

Waitrose & Partners recall Easy to Cook Pork and Chorizo Burgers because they contain egg which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

The pack sizes are 280g and have all date codes.

Lidl Cologran Stevia sweetener tablets

Lidl GB is extending its recall of Cologran Stevia sweetener tablets (Stevia variant) to include three additional batches, because aspartame, (E951) is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk to sufferers of phenylketonuria (PKU).

The pack size is 100 tablets with batch codes of L 91424 A, L 91424 B, L 91424 C (previously recalled batch) and L 91424 D and a best before end date of December 2022.

P & B (Foods) Ahmed Foods Garlic Pickle in Oil and Mango Pickle in Oil

P & B (Foods) Ltd is recalling Ahmed Foods Garlic Pickle in Oil and Ahmed Foods Mango Pickle in Oil because they contain mustard which is not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard.

The Garlic Pickle in Oil and Mango Pickle in Oil pack sizes being recalled are a) 330g, with a batch code of 036022 - 281FA and 30 April 2022 best before date and b) 1kg, with a batch code of 034022 – 161FA and 28 February 2022 best before date.

Food Standards Scotland is also running a consultation until December 4 on the proposed amendments to the Food Information (Scotland) Regulations 2014 to require food sold prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) to be labelled with the name of the food and ingredients information.
