Lunchtimes are set to get fancier for Nottingham's Aldi shoppers who will be among the first in the country to try the supermarket's new range of premium sarnies.
Three new flavours will be trialled in 70 stores across the East Midlands from this month.
Sage Chicken and Serrano Ham, Ayrshire Cured Ham Hock and Farmhouse Cheddar, and New York Deli Pastrami with Emmental cheese sandwiches will be on sale for a limited time - but if popular they will be rolled out to stores across the country.
Aldi have taken the top-selling sandwich in the market - chicken and bacon - and turned it up a notch, with British sage buttered shredded chicken and shavings of Serrano ham combined with juicy vine tomatoes and a creamy sage and onion mayonnaise.
Everyone knows the nation loves a ham and cheese sandwich, and Aldi have turned this classic into a premium treat, with British shredded ham hock, tangy Barber’s mature cheddar and fruity caramelised apple and pear chutney, served with spinach on thick malted bloomer bread.
Inspired by the bestselling premium sandwich flavour, customers of Nottingham will also be able to try a new bloomer version of a New York deli with British beef brisket, black pepper pastrami and a nutty Emmental cheese, served with American style mustard, gherkins and sauerkraut mayonnaise.
They will be on sale at £2.29 each in selected stores including Huntingdon Street in the city centre, plus Woodborough Road, Mapperley, Lortas Road, Basford, Nottingham Road, Bingham, Mansfield Road, Daybrook, Ashgate Road, Hucknall, and Chatterley Parkway, Bilborough.
