Aldi has announced a weird but wonderful new hot cross bun offering.
The supermarket has put hot cross buns filled with Rocky Road on shelves.
Aldi's seasonal treat is likely to spark up a debate about untouched traditional products versus over-the-top limited edition delights.
But is sure to be a firm favourite among those with a sweet tooth.
The Rocky Road Hot Cross Buns cost £1.49 each and will launch in store on April 9, just in time for Easter and ready for those who want to pick some up during their non-essential shop.
Aldi said: "Putting a not-so-traditional twist on the humble and much-loved hot cross bun, Aldi has created a very special on-the-go product providing a deliciously sweet treat for shoppers this Easter.
"Sandwiched in between a hot cross bun which is infused with raisins, sultanas, currants, citrus zest and mixed spices lies a rocky-road delight – a sweet and sticky concoction of chocolate coated crisped rice, pink and white mini marshmallows, and rich chocolate sauce - forming a scrumptious filling at the bun's core."
Aldi recently lifted its product restrictions in stores to just a handful of items.
It means those shopping ahead of Easter won't be limited when it comes to seasonal products.
Limiting customer purchases still apply to the following products:
• Hand Wash (maximum of 4 products)
• Shower Gel (maximum of 4 products)
• UHT Milk (maximum of 2 products)
• 12 units per online order on Wines or Spirit
During the coronavirus outbreak Aldi's stores will operate between 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
