Aldi launches budget Burns Night essentials plus haggis in pakoras to bon bons

With Burns Night just around the corner, many of us Scots will be looking to get in our yearly feast of haggis and other cultural delicacies to toast Rabbie Burns.

If you are, like many others right now, trying to keep costs low amidst the cost of living crisis, then you might turn your attention to a budget supermarket for cheaper prices.

Luckily, Aldi has served up a range of traditional and unique Burns Night dishes - including staples like haggis, neeps, tatties - that will cost a family of four less than £1 per person.

Scots can create the classic Burns Night trio with two of the exceptionally popular Macaulay's Haggis (454g) at a promotional price of just £1.49. They can finish it off with two turnips at 39p each and one bag of potatoes for 99p.

That would bring the total to just £3.29 - meaning that a family of four can create their traditional dinner for as little as just 81p per person.

Additionally, Aldi is also stocking a limited number of Simon Howie's Specially Selected Chieftain Haggis (908g) for just £3.39.

Vegans and vegetarians are also catered for with the Macaulay's Vegetarian Haggis (£1.49), as well as a gluten free option from Simon Howie (£1.99).

If you're looking to pick up something a bit less traditional, then the budget supermarket also has a whole load of side dishes that add a unique twist on some classic delicacies.

Some of these new dishes include the Punjab Pakora Haggis Pakora with a tomato and mint sauce (£1.59), Specially Selected Haggis Bon Bons (£2.29), Simon Howie's Haggis Olives (£2.99), Specially Selected Beef and Haggis Pastry Parcels with Peppercorn Sauce (£3.99), and Simon Howie's Curried Haggis Bon Bons (£1.99).

And, as no Scottish feast would be without a glass of Irn Bru, Aldi is also stocking a range of the popular fizzy ginger for as little as just £1.99.

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director, Aldi Scotland, said: "Haggis is Scotland's dish, and something that every Scot should sample at least once. Whether it's the real deal, a vegetarian option, or haggis inspired pakora, with our Burns Night range there is something for every shopper.

"At Aldi we pride ourselves on being able to bring great, locally sourced, products to market that represent incredible value, and this Burns Night range is no different. Offering premium dishes at budget friendly prices, every one of our haggis dishes have been chosen for their exceptional quality and taste.

Aldi's selection of Burns Night essentials are available in all 104 stores across Scotland. Stock may vary in your local store.
