Aldi launches a new vegan range - and yes - there are 'sausage rolls' and they're 30p each

The vegan sausage roll just keeps rolling on with Aldi the latest retailer to stock a meat and dairy-free take on the high street favourite.

Greggs launched vegan Quorn-based sausage rolls earlier this year, and the likes of Tesco and Milligans have followed suit.

Now, it's Aldi's turn.

Aldi's range of frozen Mae’s Kitchen Vegan, No Sausage Rolls are made using soya. They retail for for 30p per roll, if you buy a pack of four for £1.19.

The supermarket is also stocking vegan takes on beef and chicken burgers, at £1.99 for a pack of two, along with superfood burgers for £1.29 per pack.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, says: "The launch of our new vegan range is in response to our growing, ethically inspired customer base, looking for delicious alternatives to meat and another example of our ongoing commitment to cater for all diets, at everyday low prices. We look forward to expanding our vegan offering even further over the coming months.”

Aldi says Mae’s Kitchen Vegan No Beef Burgers are plant-based burgers that resemble a quarter pounder in size, shape and colour - except they're made from wheat, soya, pea protein, onion and mushrooms - packing in 19g of protein per patty.

M&S launches huge new vegan range

Mae’s Kitchen Vegan No Chicken Burgers are made with vegetable protein with a golden crumb coating. Aldi claims the the burgers' texture and taste rival that of a chicken fillet.

"These delicious chicken alternatives will rival any fast food chain favourites and will cost you a fraction of the price too…we know, it sounds too good to be true," says Aldi.
