Aldi launches a new 'Sausedge' and Scottish people have been left fuming

Growing up in Scotland, there's a high chance you'll be aware of the grand old debate: square sausage, a slice or a lorne?

But now a new title has entered the mix, and it's leaving Scottish people scratching their heads.

Budget supermarket Aldi took to Twitter to boast about their new creation - something that they say will be making breakfast "a whole lot easier".

Being called the 'Sausedge', the creation bares an awfully close resemblance to your average Scottish square sausage.

And Scottish Twitter was quick to point out that fact, with more dozens of replies hitting out at the immitation.

One Twitter user, @baseballScot, said: "Misappropriation of Scottish culture. What next - ‘aldi has invented a ginger coloured soft drink called iron-juice?'"

Another, @formerlypete, added: "I wonder what they'll invent next.. porridge?"

"Sliced sausage, also known as lorne or square has been around in Scotland for generations."

User Tommy Millar said: "WHAT?! Guys, you can't invent something (lorne sausage) that has existed for ALL OF TIME. Christ almighty, "sausedge"?!

"This reminds me of that pretentious American bloke who "invented" the "flaky sausage puff" a few years back... which was literally just a sausage roll."

And Ken Scott added: "I get afeeling before the day is out you're going to wish you had never thought of this never mind post it. # CulturalAppropriation".
