Aldi launch insanely spicy cocktail sausages made with habanero chillis

A picnic outside in the heatwave isn't a real picnic without a scotch egg and a few cocktail sausages.

But if your tastebuds are partial to a bit more spice than the standard porky offerings, Aldi may have just launched the perfect summer sausage for you.

The discount supermarket's new chilli chubbies sausages are a mix of mini sausages made from sriracha, jalapeno and habanero.

Hitting all 827 Aldi stores across the nation today (Thursday 25th July), a pack of twelve mini sausages will set you back £1.99.

And they sound insanely spicy, with a regular habanero chilli clocking in somewhere between 100,000 and 350,000 Scoville heat units (SHU) on the Scoville heat scale, whilst jalapenos come in at a much less heated level, at between 2,500 and 5,000 SHU.

For once, you'll be sad to be stuck with the sriracha, a hot sauce that's made from a paste of chilli, vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt.

Sadly, it seems that you will have to cook them before you head out, so tupperware at the ready...

If you don't have an Aldi near you or want something a little bigger, Morrisons sell a very similar 'The Best' hot and spicy sausage , made from a mix of habanero, birds eye and red jalapeno chilli peppers.

You can get them online for £3 for a pack of eight, or two packs for a fiver.

Aldi's new chilli chubbies sausages will be joined by South Carolina footlong sausages (£1.49 for a pack of two), plus a pack of mini chicken kievs for £2.19.
