Budget supermarket Aldi have announced their Christmas plush toys will be getting a new addition.

The iconic Cuthbert the Caterpillar will be joining Kevin the Carrot and Ebanana Scrooge this year on many toy shelves as the store's Christmas toy collection is becoming something of a collectible.

Aldi surprised shoppers with a soft toy of Cuthbert on Facebook and their other social media channels and as Manchester Evening News reports, the Cuthbert soft toy will be sold in stores from November 25.

This marks the return of Cuthbert has fans spotted his cameo in Aldi's 2021 Christmas adverts, being taken away by two lemons, giving, a cheeky nod to the M&S and Aldi legal battle.

For those who may have forgotten, Aldi's caterpillar cake faced a legal battle by M&S for looking too similar to their own Colin. Aldi's social media team took the unfortunate opportunity and joked on social media for days, creating the hashtag #FreeCuthbert.

As news as the new toy excited a lot of fans, the Facebook post collected 3.8k comments and 195k views and many all had the same thoughts.

"Please tell me as part of the festive spirit of giving and good will you're sending one to M&S? I'm sure they'd gratefully receive one" another shopper expressed.

One shopper took aim at M&S with the hilarious take on their slogan by commenting: "Its' just not any caterpillar it's a Cuthbert Caterpillar."

"M&S are definitely gonna be miffed they didn't think of this" wrote a third shopper.

While a fourth commented: "it’s gonna kick off again isn’t it."

Recently, Aldi have issued a limit on how many Kevin the Carrot toys customers can buy due to the amount of popularity they have gathered.
