Aldi Junemas campaign will see store stocking mince pies in June

After much of the UK's Christmas plans were put on hold during the UK's third lockdown, some joked that they would push the festivities back to Easter or beyond, in a bid to make up for the lost time.

Strict Covid restrictions over the festive period in 2020 meant that up to two other households were allowed to mix indoors - but only on Christmas Day.

This put paid to many plans for traditional Christmas Eve and Boxing Day gatherings, as well as New Year's Eve celebrations.

Now, the German discount store has taken things a step further, with plans to celebrate Christmas in June - and they're calling it #Junemas.

In a statement on Facebook, Aldi wrote: "Let's be honest, last Christmas didn't have our hearts, and sleigh bells weren't ringing like they usually do.

"So we think it's time for round two. A proper Christmas where you can hug your nan, get the whole family together and go to town with all the trimmings.

"Just one thing. It's in June. INTRODUCING JUNEMAS.

"Mark your calendars for June 25th, look out for some surprises in-store, and be NICE. #AldiJunemas."

The post was followed up with the store's first 'Junemas' announcement - that mince pies will be back in stock from June 21.

What is Junemas?

Junemas is a campaign launched by Aldi encouraging customers to enjoy a belated Christmas celebration on June 25, after all social distancing restrictions have ended - subject to the Government's roadmap out of lockdown going according to plan.
