Aldi issues urgent recall on breakfast cereal over fears it may contain plastic

Aldi has issued a food recall notice after one of its breakfast cereals was identified as potentially being unsafe to eat.

Aldi is recalling Harvest Morn Crisp Rice, 375g packets dated best before November 2021 with batch codes 10470953, 10480953 and 10490953 as they may contain pieces of plastic.

The popular supermarket is urging customers who may have purchased the item to return it to any store for a full refund.

Aldi has also placed point of sale notices about the recall in all its stores that sell this product.

In a statement, Aldi said: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issues a recall notice to protect the public from potential health and safety risks.

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).
