Aldi issues update to customers regarding its wine delivery service

Budget supermarket Aldi has noticed huge demand for its online delivery service as customers try to stock up on wines and spirits.

Although the retailer doesn't offer a full home delivery service on groceries, shoppers can visit its website to order wine and its Special Buys too.

However, following last Friday night's announcement by the Prime Minister in which he ordered pubs to close to prevent the spread of coronavirus, it appears customers have been rushing to stock up.

Aldi has now placed a message on its website, which reads: "Wine Orders. Due to unprecedented demand, your wine order may take longer than usual to arrive.

"Our colleagues and suppliers are working round the clock to keep our warehouse stocked and to replenish our online range."

Last night Aldi also announced it would be rewarding its store and distribution staff with a 10% bonus to thank them all their hard work during this busy time.

In the same announcement it also confirmed new measures which were being rolled out across its stores.

Starting this Sunday, March 29 emergency service workers will be able to visit their local Aldi stores from 9.30am - 10am.

Eligible customers will be able to take priority at checkouts when they open at 10am. Aldi is advising ID will be required to gain early entry into stores.
