Aldi is making a big change to its operating hours this weekend

Aldi has announced that it will be changing its operating hours this weekend, in a bid to thank emergency workers for all their hard work during lockdown.

Previously, supermarkets have dedicated a browsing hour to staff working for the NHS, but from this Sunday, the police and fire brigade will also be invited to shop in store for half an hour before the general public.

Posting on social media, Aldi wrote: "It's never been so important to look after each other. From this Sunday, we'll be opening early for Emergency Workers.

Scottish store times differ slightly and will be open between 8.30am and 9.00am."

The statement read: "If you're a key worker in the NHS, Police or Fire Service, we are opening our stores between 9.30am and 10am each Sunday to enable you to get everything you need.

"Our checkouts will open at 10am, where you'll also take priority.

Thank you from everyone at Aldi.
