Aldi is limiting shoppers to two boxes of halloumi fries - and people aren't happy

Last week it was announced that Aldi are once again selling their popular halloumi fries.

People were thrilled by the news and many rushed out to their closest branch to pick up a pack.

But if you were planning to stock up on the cheesy goodness at some point soon, then you might want to think again.

This is because the budget supermarket is currently restricting the number of boxes people can purchase - and it's left shoppers feeling less than impressed.

Aldi’s sell-out halloumi fries are FINALLY back in store

Some Aldi stores are only allowing people to buy two boxes of the halloumi fries at one time.

This is due to the incredible demand the discount retailer experienced when the product launched last year.

The fries were so sought after that they repeatedly sold out across the country.

In order to avoid this happening again, Aldi staff have decided to put a limit on packs.

The halloumi fries are currently being sold in 190g boxes which cost £2.29.

This is 30p more expensive than last year's price of £1.99.

But this small price increase clearly hasn't been enough to put shoppers off, with many keen to get their halloumi fix.

However some have been left outraged by the new restriction.

Matt Wells from Eastbourne in East Sussex claims to have driven 40 minutes to visit his nearest Aldi branch.

He and his girlfriend made the trip after learning that the fries were back in stock.

However they were shocked when staff in Kent told them they were only allowed two of the four packs they wanted to buy.

He says there were no signs in place informing customers of the restriction and that they eventually persuaded the store manager to let them buy all four boxes, reasoning that they were having two packs each.

Speaking to The Sun, the 26-year-old said: "After reading of the comeback of Aldi's halloumi fries my partner and myself jumped in the car and took the 40-minute drive to our local store in Ashford.

"I visit Aldi once a month and spend over £100 but since this incident I will no longer visit the brand and take my money elsewhere, where I will receive better customer service."

A spokesperson for Aldi added: "Our halloumi fries are proving incredibly popular once more, and as a result some stores may be limiting customers to two boxes to ensure that as many customers as possible have a chance to enjoy them."

Aldi's halloumi fries will be available in store until mid-september.
