Aldi is introducing a major change which allows people to skip the checkout in hundreds of stores

Supermarket giant Aldi has announced the roll-out of its click and collect service in hundreds of stores from next week.

The retailer says it plans to have launched the service in 200 of its UK stores by Christmas.

Aldi first trialled a click and collect service in September of this year, and following a success, it's set to be rolled out further.

The brand's CEO, Giles Hurley, said: "We know that more and more people want to buy high-quality food at unbeatable Aldi prices – particularly at the moment – and this trial has been hugely popular so far.

"By extending it to hundreds of new stores, we’re making Aldi accessible to thousands of shoppers who might never have visited one of our stores before."

The new click and collect service means people can avoid the notoriously speedy checkout process if they're not feeling energetic enough.

Speaking about the checkout process, an Aldi spokesperson previously said: "Our employees are trained to operate the checkout at the right pace for each individual person they serve."
