Aldi is bringing back its sell-out tomahawk steak – and it’s cheaper than Lidl’s

Avid Aldi shoppers will know all about the supermarket's famous Tomahawk steak, which only makes an appearance a few times a year.

Prepare your stomachs and your steak knives, as the huge, meaty steak that's bigger than your forearm is officially making a comeback at Aldi.

Returning to Aldi on the 22nd of August, the huge Tomahawk steak will set you back £12.99 per kg  -that’s a whole £2 cheaper than the tomahawk steak currently available at Lidl, which retails at £14.99 per kg.

Made from 100% British beef and matured for 14 days, the same piece of meat will set you back £65 a pop in Hawksmoor and £26.99 per kg in Waitrose , meaning Aldi's offering is half the price than its fancy rivals.

Perfect for the barbecue

A Michelin-chef favourite, tomahawk steaks are made from ribeye beef, complete with an impressive, Game of Thrones-style bone, that is so big it resembles a "tomahawk" axe (hence the name).

If you're wondering what on earth you'd do with a whole 1kg steak for dinner, the intriguing tomahawk is ideal for sharing, whether that's as a gourmet romantic meal for two, or as the showstopper at your next barbecue.

While you'll have to wait a few weeks for the tomahawk, Aldi has a few other show-stopping meat offerings up for grabs that are available now, including packs of insanely spicy cocktail sausages made with habanero chillis for £1.99 ( called chilli chubbies sausages ), South Carolina footlong sausages (£1.49 for a pack of two), plus a pack of mini chicken kievs for £2.19.
