Lockdown shopping Ireland: Video shows security guard chasing woman and dragging her into Mulhuddart Aldi store

This is the moment a young woman was dragged back into a west Dublin store over suspicion of shoplifting.

The woman is alleged to have run out of the shop followed closely by the worker at Aldi's store in Mulhuddart yesterday shortly after 7pm.

She is eventually caught up to by the guard who appears to talk to her before she tries to get away from him again.

The guard manages to grab her arm with little struggle and drags her back into the shop.

Stunned westside shoppers could only watch on as she continued to try and break away from the guard's grasp for minutes.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of suspected theft that occurred at a retail premises in Mulhuddart Village, shortly before 7pm yesterday evening.

"A number of items were taken from the premises but were recovered a short time later."

He added: "No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."

A spokesman for Aldi Ireland said: "Aldi is aware of an incident at its store at Mulhuddart in relation to a customer and a security guard.

"The incident relates to an alleged theft that has been reported to the Gardaí."

He added: "Aldi is assisting the Gardaí with its investigation."
