Aldi Ireland store deep cleaned after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

Aldi Ireland has confirmed that a store in Co Donegal was forced to shut due a positive coronavirus case.

The incident happened on Saturday morning after a staff member at the Ballybofey store contracted Covid-19.

The premises was shut down temporarily to ensure all close contacts would be informed.

All staff members who were in contact with the positive case are now following HSE guidelines.

The affected store underwent a deep clean and then reopened later on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesman said: “I can confirm that a colleague in our Ballybofey store has tested positive for Coronavirus.

"As a result, we made the decision not to open the store on Saturday morning so that we could fully investigate and contact all colleagues.

"As per HSE guidelines, contact tracing has taken place and all affected colleagues are following this guidance.

“The health of our colleagues and customers is our top priority and in line with guidance from the HSE, the store underwent a professional deep clean as a precautionary measure before re-opening at 3pm on Saturday.

“We thank our customers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused while the store was temporarily closed.”
