Aldi Ireland garden product recalled due to potential exploding batteries

Solar-powered garden tea lights sold in Aldi have been recalled due to a risk of batteries exploding.

The six-packs of Leisuregrow Garden Bright Solar Tea Lights were on sale between May 27 and June 7 2021.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission believes more than 6,000 sets were sold in Ireland.

A CCPC spokesperson said: “A safety issue has been identified with the solar tea lights which were available in Aldi stores in the Republic of Ireland.

“There is a risk of injury with Garden Bright Solar Tea Lights as a small number of batteries may overheat and explode.

“If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.”

A full refund will be given on products returned to Aldi stores.

The product code is 711631. The barcode for the white version is 4088600390703 and 4088600390710 for the amber.
